Patrick Martineau, founder and lead of WEXA, leverages years of experience in climate science to make complex meteorological data on extreme weather accessible to the public. Throughout his research career, he has focused on midlatitude weather systems and the underlying mechanisms that drive extreme events. At WEXA, he oversees both the scientific framework for event detection and the technical development of the archive platform.

Ingo Richter (Ph.D.)
Scientific Advisor

Affiliation: Research Institute for Global Change,  Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology

Ingo Richter is a Principal Researcher at the Research Institute for Global Change, JAMSTEC. He received his PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of California Los Angeles. His research interests include tropical Atlantic variability, seasonal climate prediction, and global climate change.

 

Ayako Yamamoto (Ph.D.)

Ayako Yamamoto is an associate professor at Rikkyo University, Japan. Her research interests lie in mid-latitude atmospheric dynamics and air-sea interactions, with a specific focus on the mechanisms driving extreme weather events and climate variability across various timescales.

 

Masami Nonaka (Ph.D.)

Masami Nonaka is an ocean and climate dynamics scientist with research interests in ocean–atmosphere interactions, particularly in mid-latitude regions, including oceanic and atmospheric extreme events.
